Itinerary:

After a long day in a dark design lab I need fresh air, exercise and fellowship on the trail...Join me!
I will be parking in the main lot (GPS link provided above) and we will start by meeting near the restrooms and doing introductions a little bit before 4:30 p.m. (ARRIVE EARLY, as we START right at 4:30). From there we will GO UP the Walk Up Trail (Yellow Blaze) to where the Cherokee Trail intersects (White Blaze) and turn to the RIGHT (going in a counter clock wise fashion), scurry down along the granite towards the tracks and begin the sort of level terrain that skirts the mountain and travels along the lake - Once we get to the covered bridge we'll venture over to the King's Trail (Purple Blaze) to see what we can see over there. Then it's back on to the Cherokee Trail. As always, we want to be sure we're sticking together, but it's near impossible to get lost there...plenty of bail out points and road crossings, but I want to keep the feet moving. A head torch is a REQUIRED item...even if it's a cell phone light, a light is still needed for this event - we will be moving in the dark!
The pace for this event will vary on terrain..rolling sections of the Cherokee Trail will be around the 18min/mile pace and the Climbing sections can be done at a 20-21min pace...but really once we're on the Walk Up Trail to the summit...you can travel at your leisure.
