Itinerary:

Join me as I hike the Georgia section of the Appalachian Trail!!

We will meet at Amicalola State Park at Welcome Center and follow the Appalachian Approach Trail to the summit of Springer Mountain (elev 3782 ft.).  We will spend the night at the top of Springer and return to our cars the next day. On the way back we will visit Len Foote Hike Inn for a rest and lunch break. The total trekking distance is about 17 miles.

Parking fee is $5.00 unless you have a current GA State Park Pass.

Required Items to Bring:

Hiking Boots / Shoes

Backpack

Sleep System (Tent, Tarp, or Hammock). We will be near a shelter, but don't count on there being enough space. 

Sleeping Bag

Sleep Pad

Food and Snacks (1 breakfast, 2 lunches, 1 dinner and snacks)

Water and Filtration / Purification device, Drops, or Tablets

Headlamp/Flashlight and spare batteries

Warm clothing enough for 2 days of travel and a set for the drive home

Rain Gear

Cookware (stove, utensils, cup, bown/plate, fuel)

Matches/Lighter

Bear Canister or Bear Bag to hang or put in the shelter's bear storage

Toilitries (toilet paper, shovel, sanitizer/bio sope, toothbrush, toothpaste, etc.)
