From the Amicalola State Park Visitor Center we will hike up to the top of the waterfalls with full backpack and gear, and follow the Access Trail to the summit of Springer Mountain (elev 3782 ft.), which is the southern terminus of the Appalachian trail. We will set up camp and spend the night at a nearby shelter and return to our cars the next day. On the way back we will visit Len Foote Hike Inn for a quick break and gear adjustment (They offer free tea and coffee, but bring a dollar or two for donations which supports the Inn). The total hiking distance is about 17 miles.
