Itinerary:

Welcome to the Gold Branch Turbo Spoke Hike.

You may have heard of the Gold Branch Spoke Hike. The "Turbo" version of that hike adds 1.5 miles and 350 vertical feet to that hike. The hiking pace at over 3 mph is also demanding, however; we will regroup periodically at either top of climbs or trail intersections. Avoiding, the rocks and roots of the shoreline trail will help us safely maintain a faster pace. We will hike every interior trail in each direction and get in 1000 vertical feet over 5.9 miles.

Hiking poles are recommended.

As this is a CRNRA unit, there is a $5 parking fee unless you have an annual pass.  There are no bathroom facilities at this unit so plan accordingly.

Required Items to Bring:

Hiking poles are only required if you are not accustomed to hiking without poles in difficult terrain.

Recommended Items to Bring:
Use our Event Checklists to make sure you have everything you need.

Hiking poles.

Water bottle.

How to Get There:
Event Directions:

Gold Branch is located on Lower Roswell Road between Johnson Ferry Road and Willeo Road.  If you are coming from Johnson Ferry Road, it is about 2 miles from Johnson Ferry on the right.  Do not try to come from Roswell Road (via Willeo Road) because Willeo is closed for bridge construction. If coming from Roswell Road, follow Timberline to the traffic circle next to bridge construction and continue on Lower Roswell Road for about a half-mile to find the Gold Branch entrance on left.

There is a Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area sign on Lower Roswell and the parking lot is at the bottom of the hill.
