Part V - Georgia Triple Crown

The Georgia Triple Crown is an AOC classic and a great way to test your fitness.

Join me as I hike the Coosa Backcountry loop trail and add on the summit of Coosa Mountain and Blood Mountain. We will meet at the Vogel State Park visitors center and make our way to the Backcountry loop trailhead. This hike starts with a nice stroll in the woods with beautiful forest views and a pleasant atmosphere.  Then we hit the 4.7 mile, endless ascent of Coosa Mt. At least at the top we will have a nice view. After the summit, we get back on the trail, have a nice descent before hitting the beast that is Slaughter Mt. No views here, just pain. The descent of Slaughter is very nice as we rock hop across a few streams. When the DRT peels off of the loop trail, we stick to the DRT and head for our third summit, Blood Mt. After Blood, we take the long descent back to our cars to complete our loop adventure.

This is a difficult D6 hike with 4700 feet of gain, additionally a pace of 2.7 mph will be maintained on this difficult trek. Recent D6 experience is required to join the fun.
