Itinerary:

Let's beat the heat and get an early start to the day with an invigorating sunrise hike up Kennesaw Mountain! We will start at the Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield Park Visitor Center for a hike up and down Kennesaw Mountain, Little Kennesaw, Pidgeon hill stopping at Burnt Hickory Rd.  Then we will backtrack to the visitor’s center followed by a return trip up to the top of Kennesaw Mountain before heading back down to the visitor’s center to complete the hike.

The expected pace of the hike is 2.5 mph.  Due to the trail’s frequent climbs and decents as well as the technical nature we will hike to the top of Kennesaw Mountain as a group but then those that know the path and are comfortable hiking solo can hike faster or slower pace.

Please arrive 15 minutes early for introductions.  This is a difficult D4 hike.  The total length of the hike is 8 miles with a total elevation gain of 2300 ft.  Previous D4 AOC experience is required.  If your hiking experience is not from the AOC, please indicate it in the note section upon registering.  Failure to do so will result in being moved to the waiting list until suitability is provided.

Entrance Fee

Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield Park has an entrance fee, applicable at all parking lots.  Entrance fees are: $5 daily, $40 annual.

This Site Pass may be purchased at the Visitor Center (during business hours) or online https://www.recreation.gov/sitepass/2788.  This is an entrance fee, not a parking fee. Parking is not guaranteed. Entrance fee is per car, not per person.
