Note: This is an "EXPLORATORY" trip. This means that there are parts of this trip, or perhaps the whole trip, that is new to your Trip Leader(s). However, they are confident that this will not be an issue.
This note is here so that you can make an informed decision. When a Trip Leader isn't personally familiar with a trip, there is an increased chance of things not going as planned and you need to be prepared. The Trip Leader may have additional details in the itinerary.

Itinerary:

Hot temperatures for Thursday - so let's enjoy a morning hike followed by some cooling off at Lake Lanier.

Turf:  First an 8 mile hike - two loops on the Laurel Ridge Trail, a generally rolling trail (one bigger climb) with nearly a total of 1000' of elevation gain.  A faster side of moderate pace (around 2.5mph).  We should complete the hike by noon.

Surf:  Now it's time for a swim, float, relax, cool off at the beach (near where we parked the cars).  There are picnic table and restrooms at the Laurel Ridge Trailhead.  Don't want to swim - bring a chair, cool off your feet.  The plan is to spend an hour leisurely enjoying the water.  Okay - so maybe the picture isn't Lake Lanier - just wanted something to remind you how refreshing the water will feel.

How to Get There:
Event Directions:

Laurel Ridge Trailhead, there are a couple of Laurel Ridge TH; so be sure you go to the one I have 'pinned above' (near Buford Dam Beach).  This is not the CRNRA lot, nor the overlook lot.  It is the unnamed road near Buford Dam Beach.
