Itinerary:

We'll meet at the Visitor Center. We’ll go 2 rounds and over the Kennesaw Mountains 4 times for a total of 10.25 miles and approx. 3,000 feet elevation gain.

Please arrive a little earlier than our starting time for getting ready and introduction. If you have to park at the overflow parking lot on Old HWY 41, you will need additional 5 to 10 more minutes to walk from there to the Visitor Center.

  1. We'll go over Kennesaw Mt., little Kennesaw Mt., and Pigeon Hill to Burnt Hickory Road for 3.125 miles.
  2. We'll turn around and retrace the same route to go over the mountains the 2nd time, and get back to the Visitor Center to complete the first round of 6.25 miles.
  3. After a quick break, we’ll start the second round. We'll follow the same route going over the mountains the 3rd time, but only go to the “2-mile” post just pass the little Kennesaw Mt. along the wooden fence on the right hand side.
  4. We’ll then turn around going over the mountains the 4th time, and get back to the Visitor Center to complete the entire course of 10.25 miles.

This is a go at your own pace event. We all can go at the pace we like to train and enjoy for the moment. In the end we always get the excellent workout and something more.

<<< 10.25 miles/4 hours: 2.5 mph Moderate Pace >>>

We’ll cover 10.25 miles in 4 hours with approx. 3,000 feet climbing to achieve a moderate pace of 2.5 mph. This is an entry level D5.

We also use 2.5 mph as a targeted moderate pace in the remote mountains environment. This Kennesaw Mt. 10+ miles/4 hours is a very useful reference.

Kennesaw Mt. is in town and nobody can get lost there. If anything happens, there are plenty of help available quickly to our members.

Kennesaw Mt. has many early exits, if necessary any participant can exit early without finishing the entire course. So the normal vetting process will not be applied to any registrant in most cases.

Just understand if you don’t finish the entire course in reasonable amount of time, you will not earn the credit; your name will be removed from the participant list.  Even so, you’ll have nothing to lose, but having great experience and pride of taking a fun challenge to make yourself stronger!

<<< Entrance Fee >>>

Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield Park has implemented a new cashless entrance fee program, applicable at all parking lots within park boundaries, beginning Nov. 13, 2019. Entrance fees are: $5 daily, $40 annual. Interagency Passes will be available for purchase, and are valid as an entrance pass.

Passes may be purchased online through recreation.gov (beginning Nov. 8, 2019) and at the Visitor Center (beginning Nov. 13, 2019). This is an entrance fee, not a parking fee. Parking is not guaranteed. Entrance fee is per car, not per person. Federal National Park pass is also acceptable.

During closure of Visitor Center, you have to buy a pass online at the link below before the hike. You won't be able to buy one at the parking lot.

https://www.recreation.gov/sitepass/2788

An annual pass is a great way to motivate oneself to keep coming back and enjoy all of the National Recreation Area parks and national parks throughout the USA. It is more convenient and very cost effective.
