Itinerary:

Let's enjoy downtown Atlanta with a walk on the Eastside Beltline and a visit to the Piedmont Art Festival. The beltline is one of Atlanta's most popular walking trails with great city views & people watching. The Piedmont Art Festival is an annual exhibition of art with 250 painters, photographers, sculptors, metalwork, glass blowers, jewelers, and crafters. The festival also has live music, art demonstrations, and food.

We will meet at the 14th Street gate in Piedmont Park at 8:45am. Please arrive 10min early so we can start the event promptly. The gate can be found at the intersection of Piedmont Road and 14th Street.  Please give yourself plenty of time to get here, especially if you are not familiar with parking options and the neighborhood.

We will do a little loop around Piedmont Park and move onto the Beltline at 10th and Monroe -  http://beltline.org/trails/eastside-trail/. We will walk the Eastside Trail to Irwin Street and Krog Stree Market. After a quick break/snack, we'll retrace our path back to Piedmont part and join the art festival.

The pace for the hike itself will be FAST and total distance will be 7-8 miles. The hike portion should last only last 2.5 hours. The visit to the art festival is optional and you can stay as long as you like.

There is plenty of paid parking near the meeting point. I like to park on the side streets starting along 15th street behind Colony Square and stretching over to the Atlanta Botanical Gardens. There is some free weekend parking that may be available. PLEASE give yourself plenty of time and pay careful attention to the parking signs. Also, give yourself ample time to travel by foot from your parking spot to the meeting point. If you take MARTA to the park, the closest station is Arts Center.
