Note: This is an "EXPLORATORY" trip. This means that there are parts of this trip, or perhaps the whole trip, that is new to your Trip Leader(s). However, they are confident that this will not be an issue.
This note is here so that you can make an informed decision. When a Trip Leader isn't personally familiar with a trip, there is an increased chance of things not going as planned and you need to be prepared. The Trip Leader may have additional details in the itinerary.

Itinerary:

The hike starts off with three miles along the scenic Darnell Creek with cascades and a pretty waterfall view. After reaching Wilson Gap we pick up the Bartram Trail and hike up to the top of Rabun Bald. Rabun Bald is the second highest point in Georgia. There is an observation tower on the top and the view has been described as the best view in Georgia. This sounds like the perfect spot for lunch.

This is an out and back hike. Most of our elevation gain is on the way in. We will encounter 2 water crossings with one that will be shin/knee length. Make sure you have water shoes and poles for this event.

All trails and other hiking sites show a conflict of mileage and elevation for this hike ranging from 13.7 to 15 miles and 3100 to 4100 feet. As this is exploratory, we will find out when we are there. Be prepared for the top end.
