Note: This is an "EXPLORATORY" trip. This means that there are parts of this trip, or perhaps the whole trip, that is new to your Trip Leader(s). However, they are confident that this will not be an issue.
This note is here so that you can make an informed decision. When a Trip Leader isn't personally familiar with a trip, there is an increased chance of things not going as planned and you need to be prepared. The Trip Leader may have additional details in the itinerary.

Itinerary:

The only exploratory section of this hike is Lower Trail Ridgeway.

The promo photo shown above is taken on Nov 7, 2022, from Big Scaly Mountain (5049 ft) showing Standing Indian mountain from the south. We won't be hiking Big Scaly, but we will be hiking Standing Indian.

We will start near the camp store at the Standing Indian campground and hike a counterclockwise loop by starting out on Lower Trail Ridgeway ascending over 2000 vertical feet to an intersection with the Appalachian Trail close to the summit of 5502-foot Standing Indian Mountain. We will summit Standing Indian, then proceed on the Appalachian Trail to Albert Mountain where we will visit the fire tower. We will leave the AT and follow Long Branch Trail to complete this 21.6-mile loop. This hike has a total elevation gain of 4350 feet.

This hike will require recent D6 experience or at a minimum convincing strong D5 experience. Whatever your recent experience, if I am personally unfamiliar with your hiking condition, expect that I will contact you in order to better evaluate whether you can complete this hike while keeping up with the group.
