Itinerary:

Fort Mountain State Park is one of my favorite Georgia state parks. Join me as I trek the iconic Gahuti Trail plus the scenic Overlook Trail and a quick jaunt to the stone tower and rock wall.

We will meet near the park entrance in the small parking area just before the ranger hut. There are bathrooms available.

We will hop on the Gahuti and go North. At the 3 mile point we will take in the views at the Cool Springs Overlook, after snapping a few pics we will work our way onto the Overlook Trail and head to our lunch spot near the West Overlook. After lunch we head to the Stone Tower and rock wall and then double back to the Overlook Trail that will take us back to the Gahuti. As we make our way around the park on the Gahuti we will pass several other scenic areas to enjoy.

I will be bringing my semi-trained hiking dog with me. If you are afraid of dogs or don't want doggy affection, this may not be the event for you.

This is an entry level D5 event. You must have D5 experience or be comfortable with D4 events to join the fun. Under experienced hikers may get an email from me to assess your compatibility.
