This note is here so that you can make an informed decision. When a Trip Leader isn't personally familiar with a trip, there is an increased chance of things not going as planned and you need to be prepared. The Trip Leader may have additional details in the itinerary.

Itinerary:

I have really been enjoying exploring the Pinhoti Trail in Alabama and Georgia. This section of the trail is in the Cohuttas and promises to be awesome!

We will park at the Bear Creek Trailhead and start heading southish. We will be wandering over a rolling hills landscape with creeks at our side along the way. Wildlife is plentiful in the area and a bear sighting is certainly possible. We will make our way to the Conasauga Road that will serve as our turn around point. Somewhere along the way we will stop for our lunch break as we retrace our steps back to our cars.

Our parking spot is a short mile walk to the Gennett Popular but you will have to wait for Part II of this hike to see the second largest tree in Georgia.

This is a long D5 hike with over 3000 feet of gain, recent D5 experience is required to join the fun. Those without the proper experience should expect an email from the trip leaders for vetting purposes.
