Itinerary:
Moderate to Strenuous (7 miles) . NOTE: The hike out is all up hill.

We will have a mandatory hiking meeting to be announced later. If you have any questions contact leader.

We will start at trail head for Jacks River Trail hike. We will go in 3/4 mile and turn right on Benton MacKaye trail for about 1.5 miles, then turn left on Hemp top trail for about 1.5 miles, then left on Penitentiary Branch Trail for 3.1 miles to Jacks River.

We will have lunch and set up camp site there at Jacks River. After we set up we will hike to Jacks River Falls where we will have to ford the river 4 times. We will have some downtime at the fall, and if the river is not too cold we will be able to go swimming.

We will return to camp site for dinner and then relax around the campfire.

Sunday we will hike out on Penitentiary Branch Trail to HempTop Trail to parking lot and our cars. Afterwards we return to Marietta where we will dine at Los Reyes (Mexican Restaurant).

Required Items to Bring:
Bring at least 2 quarts of water (Leader will have water filter to filter water from river as well)

Bring your own food for lunch and dinner Saturday and breakfast Sunday.
Recommended Items to Bring:
Use our Event Checklists to make sure you have everything you need.
backpacking items (check the suggested items list)
tent,tent fly
ground cover
sleeping bag,sleeping pad
head lamp or flashlight
remember not to pack what you will not use as you have to carry your pack.
Good hiking shoes
pair sneakers or sandals for the river crossings

How to Get There:
Event Directions:north Georgia 8:30 at MCDonalds in Blue Ridge. We will then go to Dally Gap and trail head. From parking lot at the park and ride go back to Chastain Rd turn right to I-575 go north and it will eventually change to HWY 515. Turn left on HWY 5. MCDonalds is on the right. We will then head north on HWY 5 for 7 .2 miles to Old State HWY 2 it will eventually turn into a gravel road FS-22 to Dally Gap.
