Itinerary:

 

 

 

We will meet at the south end of the Cheatham Hill parking lot at 8:50 for introductions. We will then proceed south on the west side of the Kolb Farm West Trail in a counterclockwise direction. We will turn left and follow the Cease Fire Trail until it comes to the John Ward Connector. We will continue until we get to the Old John Ward Road Trail, following it back to the parking lot. 

We will stop at the Illinois Monument Parking Lot to see if construction has started on the new restrooms. 


Required Items to Bring:

Wear comfortable Clothing Layers and rugged Hiking Boots or Shoes appropriate for the weather - also, showers are forecast bring light emergency rain gear.


Hydrate well prior to the event and we suggest carrying about a liter of Water to drink along the way and perhaps a piece of fruit or other light snack.

 NOTE: Parking lot is small. Allow for extra time to circle around for parking space.

 

From Marietta: 

 Take Whitlock Ave. west past Burnt Hickory.  Stay on this road all the way.  The name of the road (120) changes to Dallas Hwy.   Pass New Haven Drive & Carriage Oaks.  You'll soon see a sign that you're entering the Kennesaw Memorial Park (on right).  Pass Dallas Circle (on left) and be ready to turn Left at Cheatham Hill Drive.  The parking lot is about 1/4 mile down this road.

From Barret Parkway:

Turn east onto Dallas Highway (120).  You will cross Noses Creek, Mt. Calvary Baptist Church (on left), and John Ward Road (on right).  You will cross Hardage Road (left) which is also Old John Ward Road (right).  Be ready to turn right onto Cheatham Hill Drive.  The parking lot is about 1/4 mile down this road.

 

PARKING PASSES:  Each driver is responsible for paying the $5 per vehicle per day self-service National Park parking fee (or displaying instead from your rear-view mirror a valid National Park Annual Pass - available for sale at the park Visitor Center).

 

This is not the Illinois Monument Parking Lot.
