Itinerary:

This delightful hike includes waterfalls, cascading mountain streams, serene dells, and a fantastic view from atop Pinnacle Knob. No wonder it's an AOC classic event!

We'll start our adventure at Warwoman Dell, just outside Clayton Georgia. A lush forest valley just outside Clayton, Warwoman Dell is a lovely picnic area located on the Bartram Trail. We'll gather here no later than 9:50 am so that we can start our hike promptly at 10 am.

Our 8-mile trek takes us northbound on the Bartram Trail. A short climb brings us to the tumbling cascades of Becky Branch Falls. We'll head through the forest and encounter a small creek which leads to an impressive set of waterfalls along the rocky canyon carved by Martins Creek. We’ll stop to admire a beautiful double-tiered waterfall near the 2-mile mark before starting our ascent toward Pinnacle Knob.

We will then start our uphill climb, gaining over 1,100 vertical feet as the trail tunnels through dense rhododendron. A left turn at 3.2 miles leads us onto the Pinnacle Knob Trail which winds upward to the summit. This is a great place to enjoy lunch, take in sweeping views from atop the granite boulders, and admire the lush plant life inhabiting the windswept craggy perch. Finally, we will retrace our steps downhill, returning to Warwoman Dell.

This is a challenging D4 mountain trek with nearly 1,800 feet elevation gain. Recent D4 or higher hiking experience with the AOC, or equivalent activity, is required in order to join the fun. Please contact the trip leaders if you have any questions about participating.
