Itinerary:

This month’s workplan has us fixing several drainage issues on the Camp Brumby Trail starting about a mile from the Visitor Center going for about another mile. The pictures were taken on 1/31 the day after heavy rain. As you can see the rain has done a lot of damage.

For those that were thinking we would be working again on the New Salem Church Trail Reroute Part 2, as you know in January, we not only completed the January workplan, but we also completed the February workplan. Until the park is ready for us to go back to the reroute, we will be doing other projects.

Note start time change to 8:30 due to winter weather.

Last but by far not least. The National Parks require all volunteers to fill out the Volunteer Agreement Form. I have attached the link to this email. I filled this form out in January and for reasons none of the park’s staff can explain it must be turned in in person, not by email. If you have already done this, you do not have to do it again.

 Go to:

Copy and paste the signup.com link into your web browser. If possible, I need you to do this by Friday afternoon.

Just below the header in red is Volunteer Permission Form (2020), Click on this, print it out, fill it out, and bring it with you. This will save time checking in. If you have any question about this form someone will be able to answer them when you check in.

VOLUNTEER!! YOUR PARK NEEDS YOU!!

We will stay together working as a group & follow the instructions of our Crew Leader(s) of which you will be assigned to my group. We will learn the procedures of how to make our trails better for today & for the future.

How to Get There:
Event Directions:

From Marietta:

 1) I-75 North to exit 267B Hwy 5 Canton Road Connector

2) If you are not heading west after getting off of the Interstate you are going the wrong way.  You should be heading towards US 41 and downtown Marietta after getting off of I-75 onto the Canton Road Connector and see Kennesaw Mountain on your right.

3) You will be tempted to take the first exit off of the Canton Road Connector which is US 41, but do not take it.  Proceed over US 41 on a bridge staying on the Canton Road Connector.

4) After crossing US 41 take a right at the first redlight which is Church Street Extension.

5) You should cross railroad tracks soon.

6) Take a left onto Old 41 at the second redlight.  If you get to US 41 again, you have missed the turn onto Old 41 so turn around.

7) Stay on Old US 41 until you pass in front of the mountain then turn left at the redlight and park in the main visitor center lot if you can.  If full head back out to Old 41, take a left and park in the overflow parking lot farther down the road on the left.

PARKING PASSES:  Parking passes will be issued to volunteers at the time they arrive. Someone will direct you as to where to park. The present plan has volunteers parking in the field next to the parking lot. This may change depending on the weather occuring in the days before the event.
