Itinerary:

Starting in front of the Kennesaw Mountain visitor center we'll head over the mountains (Kennesaw, Little Kennesaw, & Pigeon Hill) at a moderate/fast pace (2.5+ mph).  After crossing Burnt Hickory Rd we'll pick up the pace (3.0 mph) around the Noses Creek/Hardage Mill/Salem Church loop. Then we'll test our fitness back over the mountains and down to the visitor center.  Total of about 10 miles and 2300 ft elevation.

The trail is clear and well traveled.  We'll plan to regroup along the way at the top of climbs and trail intersections.  Note, the Salem Church Trail is closed near Burnt Hickory Rd due to a trail reroute so we'll cut the loop short.

You may need to park in the overflow lot if the visitor center lot is full (https://goo.gl/maps/WpxjaEtu ozWakduw9).  If so you'll need an extra few minutes to walk to the visitor center.  If you don't have a park pass, there is a $5 park fee per vehicle. You can purchase a daily pass online here, https://www.nps.gov/k emo/planyourvisit/fees.htm.

This will be a fast D4 hike,  expect the overall pace to be around 2.8 mph, so prior strong D4 experience is required.  If this is at or over your limit please consider other hike events instead.

My dog Molly will be joining us on this hike.  She will be on-leash the entire time.
