Itinerary:

Come out and join us for a nice mid-week paddle down the beautiful Chattahoochee River. We will begin our journey from the Morgan Falls boat ramp (below the dam) and paddle 9 miles down river to the Paces Mill takeout. Parts of the paddle will be on calm flowing water, and some sections will be on some mild whitewater shoals with some Class 1 rapids that can approach Class 2. The route will include the very scenic section of river along the banks of the Cochran Shoals Unit, the Devil's racecourse between the cliffs the Palisades Units, and then along Long Island - the one in the Chattachoochee, not the one in New York or the Bahamas. We will take our time enjoying the scenery along the way and may explore some creeks, shoals, or other points of interest along the way.

Weather - As of this posting, the weather for Thursday is supposed to be Sunny with a high near 80 deg.

Note: Registrants for this event must be adept at self-rescue should you dump your boat. It should also be noted, that the river temperature is running between 49-53 deg now, so our recommendation would be not to fall or jump out of the boat!

This is a Bring-Your-Own-Boat/Gear event. It is suitable for canoes and kayaks of any style. However, NO tubes, rafts, or other floaty things that can not be "paddled" efficiently.

Shuttle: The current plan is to meet at the Paces Mill Boat Ramp parking lot at 10 AM, leave a vehicle or two, and then drive (with boats) to the Morgan Falls Dam boat ramp, where we'll put in. If you have a 2-boat 'rack' on your vehicle please bring it, as it will make the shuttle a bit easier. Depending on how many registrants there are, and people's ability to carry more than one boat, the meeting location is subject to change to Morgan Falls; however, we'll inform folks in advance if there is any change to the current plan.
