Itinerary:

Let's hike Tuesday afternoon at the Big Rock.  We will walk around Stone Mountain on the Cherokee Trail and then go up and down.  We should be able to catch the sunset.

We’ll meet by the restrooms at Confederate Hall parking lot. Try to arrive around 5-10 minutes early so everyone can get checked in and ready for introductions.  Hike starts promptly at 4:30p.m.  I like to hike at a 2.8-3.0 mile pace.  So not great hike for beginners.

FROM I-285 TO THE PARK'S "EAST GATE" ENTRANCE:
From the I- 285/ US-78 interchange, take U.S. Hwy 78 East around 7.5 miles. Exit right at Exit #8 to the Stone Mountain Park "East Gate" main entrance where you'll pay $20 for the daily parking fee if you don't display a valid annual pass ($40).

After entering via the East Gate, follow Jefferson Davis Drive about a mile straight ahead to the fork in the road. Merge right onto Robert E. Lee Blvd and follow it about another mile before merging left to avoid the West Gate exit. The Confederate Hall parking lot will be on your left. We'll gather at the usual spot next to the stone restroom building at the base of the Walk-Up Trail.

You can also enter through the West Gate entrance, from Stone Mountain Village. If you enter here, turn right through the gate and the Confederate Hall parking lot will be on your left.

You can also park for free in Stone Mountain village by finding an open spot on East Mountain Street at or around Truist Bank and walking from there to the Confederate Hall parking lot.
