Itinerary:

Hello, if you're interested in a little less driving to get a weekday workout, with an added bonus of some yoga at the end of the hike, come out and join us. Hopefully the weather will cooperate!

I intend to walk at a moderate pace, which for me is around 2.8+ mph average, including hiking up to the top of the mountain, after going around. We might decide to do that in reverse depending on the weather report (go up, then around). I do like to take it down a notch going down the mountain. I mention the speed, because many of us workout in between events, and we want to be fair to the whole group. If you can't maintain a good pace, there's other hikes available, last I checked, which will be better suited for you.

We will take a short break at the top to enjoy the view, and snack if you want.

After we get a nice little workout hiking, Victoria agreed to lead us with some yoga moves. She recently moved here from out west and joined us on a prior event. It was immediately apparent she was better at yoga than me, so I'm glad she agreed to lead this part of the event instead of me!!

You may want to carry a yoga mat with you, but it's not compulsory.

We will meet near the start of the walk-up trail beside the rest rooms, adjacent to Confederate Hall. The hike will start promptly at 10:30am,  so plan to arrive early. There is a $20 parking fee to enter the park; however, free public parking is available in Stone Mountain Village.

Required Items to Bring:

• Comfortable shoes with a good grip-the rock can be slippery.
• 1+ liter of water or sports drink.

Recommended Items to Bring:
Use our Event Checklists to make sure you have everything you need.

• Trail snacks.

• Yoga mat

• layered clothing suitable for this weather. Could be a bit warm thursday...

How to Get There:
Event Directions:

Google Stone Mountain park. We'll be near the west entrance, beside the Confederate Hall.

Additional directions and maps can be found at:
http://stonemountainpark.co m/default.aspx

If you don't want to pay the $20.00 entrance fee, you can park in Stn Mtn Village, near the caboose and walk into the park from there, but I will leave it up to you to find your way to Confederate Hall from there. The parking lot is rather small, and can definitely fill up. I'm not sure about the street parking since I buy an annual pass, but I'm sure you crafty individuals could find a route without paying.

Notes:

I will cancel the trip due to inclement weather.
