Moderate to Strenuous (6-mile moderate to strenuous and 1 mile hike to Little Rock Creek ) This pre-Thanksgiving hike will give you extra capacity to take in calories at Thansgiving and will be shared with members of Bruces’ old hiking group-SOA from which a like number will be invited-eight). This is one of the only hikes lead by Bruce that has no waterfall on the main hike of the day, but we will go the very nice nearby 30 foot Little Rock Creek waterfall afterwards, (time dependent) for a one mile total moderate hike. The 250-foot long suspension bridge over the Toccoa River is a solid wonder of human engineering, recently rennovated by the Benton MacKaye trail association, where some parts of the wood was getting older. The trail on the Benton MacKaye trail, blazed with white diamonds, starts up Toonowee Mountain and travels up and down terrain on the way to the bridge, and is a thorough workout, with the reward being the beautiful lunch spot across this magnificent bridge, next to the beautiful Toccoa River | |||||||
