This note is here so that you can make an informed decision. When a Trip Leader isn't personally familiar with a trip, there is an increased chance of things not going as planned and you need to be prepared. The Trip Leader may have additional details in the itinerary.

Itinerary:

Trying for a sunny day!  If the forecast calls for thunderstorms, we'll reschedule to Sunday and/or another day.

Here's an easy to moderate hiking trip along the Chattooga River starting on the Bartram Trail, and forking off of that trail towards the end.

We'll drive to the trailhead parking at Russell's Bridge just before crossing the river.  Park on the Georgia side.  (Hwy 28 crosses Chattooga river).  If there is no available parking, then drive across the river and park in the parking lot on the left of the road.

The trailhead is located on the southside of Hwy 28, on the Geogia side of the river.  Note that the Chattooga River forms the border of Georgia and South Carolina here.   The trail may be muddy in places.

We will hike about 4 miles southbound to an area along the river to picnic, sunbathe, swim, wade, and enjoy this great river.   We'd like to enjoy this area at our leisure, spending at least an hour here.  We will return to the cars following the same route.

Note that hiking times are estimates.  Best to be flexible to allow for the wonderment of the area. :-)

In the morning, we can make a pit stop at Ingles in Clayton.   If you want to meet there and follow each other to the trail head, that is an option.

Due to chemical sensitivities, please no colognes or perfumes.  Thanks.

Optional dining for early dinner in Clayton.  Arrange with your carpool in the morning!
