Itinerary:

Ok, with these brutally hot daytime temps, lets try to mitigate the damage with a late night/early morning Yonah adventure.  It should feel a good bit cooler on the summit...with a nice breeze, and very quiet and peaceful.  And of course this is also a way to avoid the daytime crowds, at this very popular location.

We will take a slightly modified route up the mtn that is mostly on the main trail, but a bit steeper on one section.  Trekking poles are recommended, espeially when coming back down.  But it's about 1.4 mi to the top (gaining 1425'), and should take us around 60 to 70 min.  We will be going at a moderate pace and it's a fairly steep trail, so this is certainly at the higher end of the D3 scale, and is not an easy hike, despite the relatively short distance.

We will work our way up to the summit and then can have a lunch break on the western side, enjoying the twinkling city lights below, from Cleveland and Helen.. and beyond.  We will then head back down to the cars, the same way we went up.

(I will likely do an additional lap, up and down, either before or after this AOC hike, and anyone is welcome to join me for that, as well)
