Itinerary:

Join me on a fun adventure to the Albert Mountain Fire Tower and Pickens Nose in beautiful North Carolina. I will be taking a new, shorter route this time with about 12 miles and 3300 feet of climb. The views on this hike are spectacular!

We will start out on the Bearpen Trail, this trail was just recently added to AllTrails. This trail is about 3 miles with a steady 1200 foot climb and intersects the AT at the base of Albert Mt. We will take a left turn and assault the steep incline that leads to the fire tower on Albert. After enjoying the views there, we will head back down the AT for about 2 miles, pass Big Butt Mountain (my personal favorite) before a short road walk that leads to the Pickens Nose Trail.  We will eat lunch at the nose and enjoy the peak fall colors before retracing our steps back to the car.

Our moving speed will be on the high side of moderate with periods of FAST hiking.

This is a strenuous hike and requires recent D5 experience with the club to join the fun. I reserve the right to move under-experienced hikes to the wait list.

We will be joined by my furry friend, Buck. If a little doggie attention isn't to your liking, this may not be the event for you.
