Itinerary:

Nothing says Tennessee hiking like Fiery Gizzard! This is a great trail with an even better name. So many waterfalls, beautiful creeks, rock formations and an awesome lunch location. This hike is worth the drive.

Our parking area has flush toilets! The first half of our hike is on the Fiery Gizzard Trail where you can expect some EXTREMELY ROCKY areas and some very slow going. We will be headed mostly downhill and there will be frequent stops for some really cool highlights, you have to see it to believe it! Suddenly the downhill ends and we will climb straight up to Ravens Point. This will be our lunch spot and the views are worth the climb. After lunch we will go a little further on the Fiery Gizzard trail to get a little more leg burn before turning around and cruising home on the Dog Hole Trail. There are a few more highlights to stop at on Dog Hole before we get back to our cars.

We won't be needing creek shoes on this trek, but poles and sturdy boots/shoes are a must.

This is a difficult D5 hike, recent D5 experience is required to join the fun.

All times listed are in the Eastern Time zone, but the hike is in the Central Time zone.
