Itinerary:

Let's get on the Pinhoti!

We will hike an 11.3-mile out-and-back on a section of the Pinhoti trail near La Fayette, Georgia. According to All-Trails, the elevation gain is 1807 feet. This is a difficult D4 hike. You should be able to maintain a 2.75 mph pace (22 minutes per mile). This is an Exploratory Hike. I have never hiked any portion of this route so it is all new to me; however, I will be carrying a downloaded All-Trails map to assist with information and navigation. Having never hiked this trail, I chose an old Turkey photo that I took in Great Smokey Mountain NP (Porters Creek Trail) to use as a promo photo.  It represents the trail blaze used for the Pinhoti (a turkey track).
