Itinerary:
This is a fitness hike for intermediate to advanced hikers and for those training for backpacking, mountain climbing, or other strenuous/endurance adventure trips.

The hike is approximately 19 miles round trip with an average hiking speed. We will start are hike from the visitors center, taking the trail to the bottom of the falls. Next we hike up waterfall stairs to the trailhead. From the trailhead, we will hike the AT Approach trail to Springer Mountain. Total miles from Visitors Center to Springer Mtn 8 1/2. We will stop for lunch at Springer Mtn,  On our way back down the Approach Trail, we will turn left at mile 3 onto the Len Foote trail with  an additional 1 mile to the Hike Inn for a much needed rest. The Inn will sometimess have some bread, dessert or fruit left over from dinner the night before that you can take in exchange for tips for the Inn employees but this is not guaranteed. ou will be able to refill your water at the Hike Inn. From the Inn we will travel a less inclined trail down the mountain. Once we arrive at the top of the falls we will take the stairs down to our cars. Milage from the Inn to our cars 6 1/2.

Please plan on bringing lunch and snacks, and A LOT of water!  I want to be sure everyone is prepared to handle the distance and heat! We will be stopping at Springer Mtn and at the Len Foote Hike Inn for a break.

Note:  This hike is 19 miles, and it has a lot of elevation gain.  We will be traveling at a steady pace. We need to finish the hike before dusk. If you have not completed a long hard hike at a moderate pace please do not sign up.

There will be an optional stop for dinner on the way home if everyone agrees.
