FYI - Other Notes: There will be a planning meeting on Thursday April 7, to discuss who will bring what shared gear, and make sure everybody has proper equipment. I have a couple of extra backpacks and tents if anybody needs them. Please let me know in advance.

Leave from Indian Trail Park and Ride at 7:30 Saturday April 9, and drive to trail head with a possible breakfast stop. Once we reach the trailhead, we will begin our hike down the Art Loeb Trail. The Art Loeb trail begins with the ascent of Black Balsam Knob. A 6000 ft Bald with spectacular 360 degree views. The trail will continue along this ridgeline topping Tennent Mtn. (also 6000 Ft+) before reaching our campsite. One of the campsites is very unique in the fact that we will actually be setting up our tents in the middle of a Rhododendron thicket.

After setting up camp we will make the .5 mile hike up to the Shining Rock, A large, granite outcropping on top of another 6000 ft peak. This is a great place to watch the Sunset/Rise, and do a little bouldering for those interested.

Sunday those who want can make the hike back up to shining rock to see the sunrise, before we cook breakfast and break camp. We will then backtrack along the Art Loeb trail to our cars for the drive home. Keep a look out on the drive up for a place to eat on the drive home.
