Itinerary:
We will walk some distance on the Cooper Furnace Trail and then take a back trail that will take us to the summit of Pine Mountain. After a brief stop to admire the view we will return to our cars via the East Loop of Cartersville's Pine Mountain Trail, a connector trail that leads back to the Allatoona Lake area, and  Laurel Ridge Trail,  for a total walking distance of about 6 miles and an ascent of about 800 ft.

This route passes  through a mixed pine and hardwood forest. It features a vast variety of trees, shrubs and wildflowers. Wildlife is abundant here and we will walk past a pond inhabited by beaver and muskrat.

The Laurel Ridge Trail crosses the slopes of a mixed pine and hardwood ridge overlooking the Etowah River Valley. Along the way see an abundance of mountain laurel and 32 varieties of identified trees.
