Itinerary:
This scenic trail is a loop that winds along the banks of Lake Allatoona through a historic area that once was home to an active iron mining community in the mid 1800s. Along the way we will have the opportunity to observe both native wildlife and a profusion of native plants. The trail has a gravel surface and is 3.4 miles long.

How to Get There:
Event Directions:The park is located north of Atlanta, 1.5 miles east of I-75 exit #285. The park office is on the left side of Red Top Mountain Road, a few yards after passing the beginning of Marina Road to your left.
We will meet at the park office and then drive a short distance to the trailhead.

Carpool Cost: Estimated cost per vehicle for this event is $13.60 using a reimbursement rate guideline of $0.400 per mile. The total amount should be divided by the number of people in the vehicle, including the driver. This is a guideline, not a rule, for drivers but the cost should not be higher unless there are extenuating circumstances.

Notes:
The Park Office has no street number assigned to it. If you follow the directions to 50 Lodge Road you will get to the lodge, which is the wrong place.
