Itinerary:
Moderate approx 8 Mile Hike with short strenuous patches

Good scenic hike for intermediate beginners with rivers, covered bridge, mine, etc. This hike has many photo opportunities, the river is so clear you can see the bottom, one of my many favorite parks to visit.

After we sign in and get a permit, well hike laurel ridge trail, the trail head is right next to the visitor center, its a 2 mile loop trail, 1 mile up hill and 1 mile down hill (Its scenic at the top where we can see other mountains), after the loop trail, it will bring us back to the main trail, which is a paved road, some areas are going to be a steep hill, well hike along a very clear and beautiful Dukes Creek, and a very green trees, and a small covered bridge over Dukes Creek... to Martin Mine (A Gold Mine), its another 1.5 mile loop trail to the mine and back, well have lunch at the mine (its shady and has wodden platform), from here will start back, after we go back under the covered bridge, well go in to the wetland loop, its quite nice... and from here well go back to the parking lot. After the hike Im planning on going to Helen for snack, since its only 3 miles from the park, Ive been going to Helen for many years, and tried all the restaurants, there are only 2 good restaurants in Helen, Well go to my favorite one, Ive made a reservation there, very tatsy German food at a reasonable price.
