Itinerary:

The Jones Bridge unit of the Chattahooche National Recreation Area is one of my favorite local parks.  It just offers a lot of variety...you get the sweet river views, get to hike up some small hills, through some open fields and along side a lake. 

Even though there is not much elevation change...about 550 feet over the entire 5 1/2 miles, the short steep hills will get your HR up.   However, everyone can take the hills at their own pace.  We will moving at a decent clip on the flat areas though, which is about 90% of the hike, which is why this is a D3 and not a D2.

But we will take our time stopping at some overlooks and at about the halfway point for a lunch break.

You can bring your dog(s) along but they must be well behaved and must remain on a leash at all times, in accordance with park rules. 

There is a $3 parking fee if you don't have an annual pass.  Also note that there are two entrances to the park...one is usually gated but other one farther north off Barnwell is is open and where we are meeting...see more detailed directions below.

How to Get There:
Event Directions:From GA 400, take exit 7a, and head East 4.1 miles through the intersection of Holcomb Bridge and Nesbitt Ferry Road to the junction of Barnwell Road. Turn left on Barnwell Rd, and travel approx 2 miles to Jones Bridge Branch which will be on the right. Turn in and go a little over 1/2 mile to large parking lot at end of road.
