Moderate to Very Strenuous 3 miles

We are in luck!!! Tallulah Gorge State Park is having an Appalachina Harvest Festival, (Learn about honey harvesting, coal cooking, butter churning, cider pressing and more.) So after we get our permits, well visit the festival and then head on down to trail. The Festival is free for the park visitors.

From the Visitor center, well hike to North Wallenda Tower and enjoy the view of the Gorge from the top, and well head down to the bottom of the gorge, well have our first experience of river crossing here, take your time and please be careful, the trail (well we make our own trail) is only 3/4 of a mile but it will take us couple of hours because of the terrain, (Minor rock climbing, rock hoping, etc.) after we finish the trail, a beautiful pool of water awaits us with a nice gentle sliding rock, well have our lunch, swimming and sliding rock break. After the break well cross about 40 feet of river to the other side and head on up the great hill. (950 feet of elevation in 1 mile), after along huffing and puffing, well gather around for a short break at the top. Now after we cross the dam, there is a restroom, with vending machine, so dont forget to bring some cash ($1.25) if you want a ice cold coke, power ade or water.

Required Items to Bring:
Please bring plenty of liquid refreshments, such as water and sports drink. And please dont forget to bring lunch.
Recommended Items to Bring:
Use our Event Checklists to make sure you have everything you need.
If you happened to have aqua sole or wet shoes, it will come in handy when crossing the river. Trekking pole will also come in handy to balance your self through the rocky trail. Please bring a towel and swim wear if you want to enjoy sliding rock, I wouldnt recommend to wear trousers, since we need to be in water.
