Easy – horse does all the work Join me for a horseback ride that’s more than just an ‘ol trail ride. We’ll spend several hours at Southern Cross Guest Ranch (http://www.southcross.com) in Madison, GA for a hands-on experience - not only with the ride but also with “catching”, brushing, saddling and putting the bridle on a horse that’s suitable to your riding experience. Of course, this will all be with the help of a very friendly, conscientious staff at Southern Cross. We will ride in two groups of up to 7 each, and you will have the option of riding for one or two hours. The one-hour ride is $40, and the two-hour ride is $50. If you choose the 2-hour ride, and don’t want to complete it, you can simply stop early. The staff at this ranch is very laid back and flexible. They just want you to have a pleasurable riding experience. The drive to Madison (a charming town with quaint shops and restaurants - for those of you who want to explore pre or post ride), is approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes from the 75/85 connector. We will meet at the ranch at 1:45 to get signed in and will probably be on the trail by 2:30. The weather during this time of the year is, on average, 75 degrees – sans humidity. It should be a very pleasant afternoon for a ride. You should wear old jeans and tennis shoes (unless you have boots). If you are so inclined, you may bring a an apple or carrot as a treat for your horse. To ease any concern you might have, the horses at Southern Cross are very healthy and good-spirited. They live a fine life and are ridden only once per day. If you have any questions, please review the Southern Cross link provided above (it provides directions, FAQs, etc), and don’t hesitate to e-mail me if you have any additional concerns. For those of you who want to check out the town of Madison, the website is: http://www.madisonga.org | |||||
