We will hike the easy red trail that follows the scenic Sweetwater Creek. After ½ a mile, we will come to ruins of a pre-civil war textile plant. In another ½ mile we will come to waterfall at which point we will change to the blue path that follows the best plants and animal areas of the park. After 1 mile, we will stop for a picnic lunch on the rocks of the creek. It is another mile on the blue trail back to the parking lot (3 miles total). Anyone who is interested can continue from there on the yellow trail that is moderate difficulty that is a 3 mile loop that includes former Native American shelters and the ruins of a brick making facility from 1840. This hike should be great for dogs. There are several opportunities to switch back early making the total hike anything from 1 to 6 miles. There are a large number of stairs and rock scrambles.

Recommended Items to Bring:
Use our Event Checklists to make sure you have everything you need.
Plenty of water (remember the dog too!), a sack lunch, bug spray is recommended, and prepare for the possibility of poison ivy. There are a lot of rocks on the path, so hiking boots or shoes with ankle support are recommended. Remember your camera to remember the beautiful views.
