Itinerary:

Looking for a way to enjoy a pleasant Sunday evening with a scenic view or just wanting to sneak in a quick workout before the start of the work week?  Join us Sunday evening for a hike up to Stone Mountain!  We will be hiking the Approach Trail going to the top of Stone Mountain from Confederate Hall parking lot and back.  This is a causal and social hike up the mountain, so you can choose your own pace.  At the top of the mountain, we will hang out for awhile, take pics, and  enjoy the scenic view from the top.  What better way to spend an early Sunday evening!

From Confederate Hall parking lot starting point to the top and back is about 2 miles.

HIKE WILL START FROM CONFEDERATE HALL PARKING LOT AT 6:45 pm. PLEASE BE THERE 5-10 MINUTES EARLY FOR SIGN UP AND INTRODUCTION.


Free parking is avaialable at MARTA PARK n RIDE parking lot. It is less than a half mile walk to the park and the entrance is near our meeting area. Please take the time to look at the park map and parking options in order to be on time!

  • Hiking boots or trail shoes, running shoes, etc. 
  • Trail Snacks or Energy bar

Directions To Confederate Hall Parking Lot:

To the main entrance- From I-285 take U.S. Hwy 78 East (Snellville/Athens) exit. Travel about 7 miles and take Exit 8, the Stone Mountain Park Main Entrance. After entering the main entrance, proceed straight ahead. The road will fork at about 1 mile - stay to the right. Continue to follow the road for another mile. Confederate Hall will be on your left. (Careful - there's a stop sign in front of Confederate Hall for those entering the West Gate.) The parking lot will be immediately after. Wait for the group near the walk up trail.


MARTA PARK & RIDE LOT
Free public parking in Stone Mountain Village

From Hwy 78 take exit 5 - stay right for a half mile - then a quick exit to E. Ponce/Stone Mtn. Village. At the end of the ramp turn left. Drive a mile or so into town. Turn left on East Mountain. Turn right on Fourth Street. There you will find the MARTA park and ride.


Notes:
Parking fee inside the park is $10/- or if you have annual pass.
