Famous for its get muddy tours, Raccoon Mountain Caverns, located near Chattanooga, TN, is considered to be one of the most geologically active. The cavern consists of over 5 1/2 miles of underground passageways.

We will head up on Saturday morning to Raccoon Mountain. We will start the 2-hour cavern tour at 11am. The tour will include walking, stoop walking, underground stream walking, some belly crawls, a visit to Sandpaper Slide (FUN!), the 49-cent Squeeze, the Echo Room and some awesome fossils. Gloves, knee pads, lights and helmets will be provided by the outfitter.

Afterwards, we can clean-up in the campground bathhouses and head back to Atlanta or stop over in Chattanooga for lunch.

Recommended for active folks in moderately good shape. Caving is a very physical activity.

NOTE: I took a small group of 10 to do this same trip back in July. Everyone had a blast. No one had any issues with small spaces or something they could not do. We had a contest to see who could get the muddiest...Keith Huston was the winner. Seriously, its a seriously fun trip for those active folks not afraid of a little adventure!!

Required Items to Bring:
What To Wear

Wear long pants (no sweat pants) and a long sleeve shirt. Its a constant 60 degrees in the cave so do not overdress. Shorts are prohibited.
