Itinerary:
Moderate 6.9 miles

We will hike this loop counterclockwise. It is a combination of sections of five different trails, including Swimming Pool Trail, Mountain Creek Trail, and Pine Mountain Trail. It ascends to and follows the ridge of Pine Mountain, and on clear winter days it offers crisp views of valleys and mountains. The trail crosses a couple of streams, but no wading is necessary.

After the hike we will have Sunday brunch buffet at the Mountain Creek Inn, across from Callaway Gardens. If there is interest, after lunch we can visit Callaway Gardens.

Recommended Items to Bring:
Use our Event Checklists to make sure you have everything you need.
Plenty of water and good hiking shoes.

How to Get There:
Event Directions:Pine Mountain, GA 9:30 am at the parking lot next to the swimming pool at FDR State Park. Proceed South on Interstate 85 until Interstate 185. Continue south on Interstate 185 until Exit 35/GA 18. At the top of the ramp turn left (East) on GA 18. After about 6.7 miles you will see an entrance to Callaway Gardens on your right. At that point, GA 18 transitions into GA 354. Continue straight on GA 354 a little over 3 miles, crossing US 27 in the process. The swimming pool will be on your left. If you drive under a stone bridge you went too far!
