Itinerary:
Easy to Moderate approx. 12 Mile Hike 4 short loop trails with connecting roads

Great scenic hike with crystal clear rivers, covered bridge, gold mine, mountain, waterfalls, and swamp area. This hike has many photo opportunities, the river is so clear you can see the bottom, one of my many favorite parks to visit. After we sign in and get a permit, well hike laurel ridge trail, the trail head is right next to the visitor center, its a 2 mile loop trail, 1 mile up hill and 1 mile down hill (Its scenic at the top where we can see other mountains), after the loop trail, it will bring us back to the main trail, which is a paved road, some areas are going to be a steep hill, well hike along a very clear and beautiful Dukes Creek, and a very green trees, and a small covered bridge over Dukes Creek... to Martin Mine (A Gold Mine), its another 1.5 mile loop trail to the mine and back, well have lunch at the mine (its shady and has wooden platform), from here will start back, after we go back under the covered bridge, well go in to the wetland loop, its quite nice... and from here well go back to the parking lot. If you like Honey, Smithgull Woods makes their own honey. mmmm...
