Moderate How about an evening canoe trip? This is exact route we did in April except that we will run it during the evening hours from approximately six to nine PM. Wildlife not normally present during daytime hours should be out for us to observe. Bring your dinner to eat beforehand as the outfitter has a picnic area we will take advantage of. Thus you don’t have to worry about bringing a meal that will stay dry. At about 5:30 we will wrap up eating and get our boats, paddles and life preservers to prepare for our six o’clock launch. We will be canoeing about 6 miles and we will go at a somewhat leisurely pace to take in the scenery. There is a nice beach about halfway through were we will stop for a snack and have a chance to play in the water. We will be going over some moderate class one rapids but nothing too severe. At the end of trip, the outfitter will pick us and our craft up and bus us back to where we started. First time canoers should be aware that we will not have time for extensive instruction prior starting our trip down the Chestatee. After a few minutes of familiarizing themselves with their canoe or kayak we will start down the river. There is the possibility that your craft will tip over so the ability to swim is a must. If you are unsure about your suitability for this trip please e-mail the trip leaders before signing up. | |||||||
