We will hike the easy red trail that follows the scenic Sweetwater Creek. After ½ a mile, we will come to ruins of a pre-civil war textile plant. In another ½ mile we will come to waterfall at which point we will change to the blue path that follows the best plants and animal areas of the park. After 1 mile, we will stop for a picnic lunch on the rocks of the creek. It is another mile on the blue trail back to the parking lot (3 miles total). There are a large number of stairs and rock scrambles. Dogs are welcome. Please read the details below carefully.

Recommended Items to Bring:
Use our Event Checklists to make sure you have everything you need.
Plenty of water for you and your dog, a sack lunch, and bug spray. Prepare for the possibility of poison ivy. There are a lot of rocks on the path, so hiking boots or shoes with ankle support are recommended. Remember your camera to save the beautiful views.

How to Get There:
Event Directions:Lithia Springs, GA, 770-732-5871 9:30 am at Sweetwater Creek visitors center. From Atlanta, take I-20 west to exit #41, Lee Road. Turn left on Lee Road, continue south approximately one mile to Cedar Terrace and turn left. Cedar Terrace dead ends into the park at the Bait Shop and Picnic at Mount Vernon Rd. Turn right onto Mount Vernon. Turn left at the second road on the left. There will be a gate house to collect the state park parking fee ($3).
