Itinerary: | |||||
Moderate 7 miles From the parking area on Burrells Ford road it is a little over ˝ mile to the lovely 85’ Kings Creek Falls, which we’ll stop to view, take pictures. Then we will hike some 2 ˝ miles further on the Chattooga River trail to Big Bend Falls and those that are daring can make their way down the very rugged path to view them from their spectacular frontal view. Those that want to have the safer view can see them from the top, which is a very cool (literally) viewpoint as well. These are a raging falls some thirty feet wide, but impassible to any river adventurers because of the way they fall into the rocks below. After some time to admire the view, we will return the way we walked in. These falls are only fifteen feet high, some thirty wide; but spectacular in their wild, raging beauty. NOTE: If it is hot enough, time allows-we may want to wade/swim, dip in the river in any good spot that may present itself. If you want to bring a swimming suit, river shoes-we can do this after the hike, close to our cars, near the Burrells Ford campground which is next to the Chattooga River. | |||||
