Tired of tradtional tent pioneer camping?

Looking for something different and unique?

Well, I have got just what you need...
Nestled in the North Georgia mountains just two miles from the Alpine village of Helen, Unicoi is one of Georgias most beloved state parks. The park is 1000+ acres of gorgeous forest with a pristine lake and beach.

We will be camping in the Squirrels Nest area, which is a village of primitive camping structures or platforms (15x14). The Nests themselves are roofed, one backwall and open on 3 sides. Therefore, tents are not needed for this trip. The site has lots of picnic tables, running water and yes, our own comfort station (no showers, sorry).

The itinerary is the same as most of my pioneer trips...arrive Friday, setup, dinner and a fire; Saturday, a short easy hike and maybe a trip into Helen for lunch and tourist activities, dinner and relax around the fire and finally; Sunday, breakfast and head for home.

NOTE: In an effort to be more environmentally friendly, the AOC will no longer use styrofoam plates or plastic cups. We will recycle all plastics, bottles and cans during our event. Further, the AOC will provide everyone reuseable plates, bowls, etc. We ask for everyone to bring their own drinking CUP and/or mug to wash and reuse during the event.
