Itinerary:
Join us up at Red Top Mountain for a night hike. We'll start the hike at 8:15PM (carpool leaves at 7:30PM) and we'll have a good 30 minutes of twilight. The route is not in stone, but this is what we're thinking: We'll start on the Sweet Gum Trail and hook up with the Homestead Trail moving at a moderately fast pace to get our blood flowing before it gets dark. As it darkens, we'll slow our pace continuing on the Homestead Trail then take portions of the Sweet Gum trail and the White Tail Trail and lastly make our way back towards the Lodge on the Sweet Gum trail. We will stop for a few minutes by the water at the end of the White Tail Trail. We should cover about six miles.

Pace will be moderate and we'll stop or slow along the way to enjoy nature, darkness and peace and quiet. Be sure to bring a headlamp or a small flashlight.

You can view a trail map here: http://www.redtopmountainstatepark.org/resources/red-top-mountain-state-park-trail-map.pdf

If you don't have a Georgia State Park Pass, there is a $5.00 per car fee. It is the drop box, punch out the tag system so no attendant is on duty. Please make sure you have exactly $5.00 or you can write a check.

There are no restrooms but the woods will be dark.

Please call one of the trip leaders if you are running late. We won't wait so you'll have to catch up with the group if you do arrive late.

** We do have permission from the Ranger at RTM to do this group night hike. **
