Itinerary:

This is intended for beginner through intermediate mountain bikers and will include instruction in riding skills and basic bike maintenence.  You may bring a hybrid bike (mountain bikes are recommended), but I ask that all bikes are in good riding condition (please test ride your bike if you've not had it out for awhile).  Also, when signing up, please indicate in the Notes your level of experience as 1 to 5 (1 being 1st time mtn biking, 5 being intermediate/advanced rider neeing no instruction).

After a 30 minutes instruction and intro period, we'll start with an easy 3 to 4 mile ride, with some progression in difficulty, pointing out riding skills as we go.  We'll then return to the parking lot before heading out for the intermediate portion of the ride, consisting of several miles (and including the creek side of the park...see map links below). Experienced riders may be asked to help beginners as necessary on the 1st portion of the ride.

Features of the trail:

  • Parking lot includes restrooms, changing station, bike wash and water fountain.
  • Trail features wider and smoother single track than normal, ideal for beginners.
  • Only 13 miles from I-285

In case of rain or wet conditions: Please check your E-mail by 10:00 PM the prior evening in case of postponement due to rain or wet conditions (rain in the previous 24 to 48 hours).  A rain date may then be set at that time.  You may also call the Gwinnett County trail hotline (770-978-5270).   If  the trail is closed according to the hotline, the event will be postponed.   However, please still check your E-mail.
