Itinerary:
Join me for a brisk loop around Stone Mountain on the Cherokee Trail and then a jaunt up the Mountain to relax and watch the sunset.

If you can not get there in time to do the Cherokee Trail, you can join us for only the hike to the top to watch the sunset. If this is your intention, then please make note of that in the notes section when you register, so that I know when to expect you.  Please read the itinerary for details on where to be and when.

We will be beginning the hike at the Confederate Center (near the restrooms). We will hop on the Cherokee Trail and take a clockwise loop around Stone Mountain, connect with the Nature Trail, and return to the meeting location.  The pace on the Cherokee Trail portion of the hike will be on the quicker side of moderate so that we can finish the 5.7 miles in 2 hours.  Please be prepared to maintain a quick pace so that we are back at the restrooms by 7:35. We will take a very short break at the restrooms, collect any arrivals for the "top only" hike, and start up the mountain by 7:40.

For those who are arriving for only the top and back with sunset, please plan to be at the restrooms and ready to hike up by 7:35 PM.

We will take a route to the top that is through the woods and much more quiet and peaceful than the walkup trail.  At the top of the mountain, we will hang out for awhile, take pics, and enjoy the scenic view and sunset.  Barring some major celestial catastrophe, sunset will be at 8:26 PM.  What a great way to spend the evening!

After the sunset, we will be walking down a quiet trail through the woods, so please bring a small LED flashlight or headlamp to avoid tripping.

The HIKE WILL START FROM CONFEDERATE HALL RESTROOM AREA AT 5:35 PM. PLEASE BE THERE AT LEAST 5 MINUTES EARLY FOR SIGN-IN AND INTRODUCTIONS.

If you will only be doing the hike to the top for the sunset, be outside of the restrooms NO LATER THAN 7:35.

Free parking is avaialable at MARTA PARK n RIDE parking lot. It is less than a half mile walk to the park and the entrance is near our meeting area.

Please take the time to look at the park map and parking options in order to be on time!
