Itinerary:

Meet at base of walk-up trail (near restrooms) at 7:45, begin hike by 8:00. 

If the skies are clear, Harry will bring his little 90mm telescope and we can view planets, or lunar if moon is near 1st quarter.

If cancellation due to weather appears likely, an E-mail will be send no later than noon on the day of the event.


For 6/26/12: Sunset: 8:51.  Moon: 1st quarter,  Planets visible: Mars (overhead), Saturn (overhead) and Mercury (west)

Entrance fee to park is $10, or $35 annually. however, free parking is available in Stone Mountain Village. See directions below...

How to Get There:
Event Directions:

Directions to Walk up trail From I-285 take U.S. Hwy 78 East about 7 miles to Exit 8, Stone Mountain Park Entrance. After entering, road will fork at about 1 mile - stay to the right. Continue for 1 mile. About 0.2 miles, turn left into parking lot, just past the Confederate Hall. We'll gather at the start of the walk up trail near the bathrooms.

If you would like to try the free public parking, there is a Marta Park and Ride on Fourth Street in Stone Mountain Village. From there it is a less than a half mile walk on East Mountain Street into the Park and you will end up right at the start of the walk-up trail where we are meeting.
