Itinerary:

This trip is for intermediate hikers. It is a good transition from intown to mountain hikes. We will go at a steady, moderate pace, with some stops. This hike is an approximately 8-9 mile loop with a vertical rise of 1,200 feet. The loop follows Slaughter Creek on a moderate grade to intersect the Appalachian Trail.  We will take the Appalachian trail to the summit of Blood Mountain.  We will then follow the Appalachian Trail ridgeline until we reach Jarred Gap. We will then complete the hike with an easy descent down the Jarred Gap Trail. The hike explores sheltered mountain valleys divided by an Appalachian Trail ridge walk with impressive views from the summit of Blood Mountain (the highest mountain along the Georgia section of the AT).
