Itinerary:

This in-and-out hike starts at Unicoi Gap on Hwy 75, north of Helen. From the trailhead we ascend 1100 ft. over 1.3 miles to the top of Rocky Mt, descend 800 ft. over 1.3 miles to Indian Grave Gap, ascend 1300 ft. over 2.4 miles to the summit of Tray Mt., and continue a bit further to the off-trail lookout. We’ll have lunch there, enjoying the view, and then retrace our steps. With a total elevation gain of 3200 ft, this hike provides a good workout, but we will making frequent stops, as needed, so as not to get too hot.

I'll be asking for a volunteer to co-ordinate the carpool at the Indian Trail Marta park-and-ride. I'll be meeting you at 9:00 at the Cleveland Ingles (behind the gas pumps), where you can also make a pitstop.  If there is interest, we can have dinner in Cleveland.

If the weather forecast calls for a greater than 50% chance of thunderstorms, I will reschedule the hike.

I'll be contacting anyone who has not done a D5-level hike to determine if this hike is suitable for you.
